ARTA is a startup dedicated to making big inroads in the world of white glove logistics.

In my role as Director of Product Design, I was responsible for the UX/UI research and design of both the consumer facing product and in-house operations tooling. I also set the brand direction for marketing communications online and off.

As part of the leadership team, I helped the company transition from their early days as a single purpose shipping aggregator tool for galleries, to the enterprise level shipping software hub it is today.

Rebrand/ Repositioning

I was tasked with elevating ARTAs brand aesthetic to meet the needs of it’s growing ambitions from a boutique shipping aggregator to an enterprise level shipping software platform.

I moved the company away from a sparse monotone look and feel toward a more robust, tech driven appearance to match it’s mission. To achieve this I created a new logo and rich jewel-toned color palette, introduced new guidelines for imagery and illustration, created reusable design motifs, streamlined typography selections and added motion graphics.

In collaboration with the heads of product and marketing, I lead participatory workshops to help define and rewrite the mission statement, taglines and product copy in a different tone of voice to reflect a new position within the market as a SAAS company. I sourced and hired contractors to aid with the rebuild of our website & CMS, overhaul of our existing apps and roll out of the new brand identity which launched in late 2019.

Point of Sale Tools

Though ARTA’s focus is primarily on developing tools for the shipping and fulfillment of high-value goods and collectibles, user research revealed that sales themselves increased when customers could review shipping costs before purchase.

This wasn’t standard practice in luxury sales as costs were often difficult to predict upfront, so my team designed and built an estimator tool that could be implemented at the point of sale for high-value goods. It was one of the first in the market and a fitting addition to the suite of ARTA products.

Design Systemization

Throughout my time at ARTA I established workflows and practices to underpin all aspects of the design process – from user research guidelines to templatized marketing materials. I migrated product design operations from Sketch to Figma and collaborated with product and engineering colleagues to establish routines for design reviews, handoffs and QA tracking.

I created UX/UI patterns for design and prototyping, and onboarded new design talent to the team. I left ARTA in 2021 with a well oiled product design function that has helped the company continue on it’s path to growth.
